Chronoly stores user data to provide our services. This document describes our data storage and usage policies.

Data Collection

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: Information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, and account details.
  • Plugin Data: Information provided by user installed plugins, such as project names, file paths and file line counts. We collect timestamps of keystrokes, file closes or opens, file saves, and changes to window state.
  • Usage: Information about which pages you visit and features you use.

Usage of Data

The purpose of our data tracking is to operate and maintain our app, and to create a rich dataset to populate our user dashboards. We take care to avoid collecting potentially sensitive or irrelevant data.

Data Sharing

We will never share user data except for the following reasons:

  • Aggregated Information: We may share data that has been aggregated or anonymized, ensuring it cannot be used to identify you personally. For instance, we might release statistics on how our services are used.
  • Lawful Compliance: If required by law or in response to valid legal requests, such as court orders or government inquiries.
  • User Consent: If you connect your account to third-party services, we may share your data with those authorized third parties.

Security

All logins and communication between client and server are secured with SSH. Passwords are hashed using Bcrypt with randomized salt.
